The 18DOF Miniature Hexapodinno is a six-legged robot with eighteen degrees of freedom (DOF) and is an ideal platform for learning about robotics.

After the user gains experience with the kit, they can add extra components or Innovati Peripheral Modules to develop more complex and interesting applications. Creating the perfect environment for anyone wishing to explore the world of robotics. It is designed for novice users who may not have had any engineering or programming experience.

Produced by Innovati Inc (Taiwan), the Innovati system features a unique single board microcontroller called the BASIC Commander which can be connected to a range of easily expandable building blocks called Peripheral Modules. These modules are specially designed to work with the BASIC Commander and possess their own individual functions.

All this is controlled by programs written in innoBASIC which is a plain text language designed for those with limited electronic and programming experience to quickly and easily assemble and control projects based on their own ideas. This kit also includes the Innovati Motion Editor for creating motion patterns to load into the robot.

These features combine to provide a system that is not only suitable for entry level users as a means to quickly cross the microcontroller design threshold, but also as a system for professionals to quickly develop high level microcontroller applications.

The Servo Runner A peripheral module is a comprehensive servo control system and applications include:

  • Ability to control multiple servos in applications such as robotic arms, hexapods, articulated joints.

Features of the Servo Runner A peripheral module include:

  • Ability to control up to 16 servos simultaneously.
  • Controlling the position of the servo from 0.5 ms to 2.5 ms
  • Able to adjust the rotation angle of each servo in the range of -128~127 µS only by software setting without the need to disasseble the servo from the robot or hardware frame.
  • Software to allow the user to set the rotation angle of the servo. Multiple levels of rotation angle for the servo can be set according to the requirements Ability to set a common time for every servo to reach different rotation angle at the same time
  • A 120 built-in memory blocks. Each memory block can store the current target positions, speeds or the time parameters of the 16 servos which can be restored directly on demand, and thus avoid repeated setting operations and allows the user to combine the actions for various operations
  • 4 event notifications allowing the user to proceed to the next operation once the completion of the action is detected. The event can be configured based on detection of the state of the any one of the 16 servos.
  • Various state inquiry commands to allow the user to confirm whether the action of the servo is completed or not at any time, to acquire the current position and the target position, to fine tune the parameters or the preset time and speed values.
  • The resolution can be as high as 2µS.





BASIC Commander

Command Board

The Command Board is a small board used to interface a BASIC Commander with Innovati Peripheral Modules or other electronic components. It includes a socket for the BASIC Commander system, a plug for external power and seven cmdBUS (command BUS) connectors. It also incorporates a number of I/O lines which can be used to interface with breadboards or other circuts.

The Innovati system uses a communication system called the cmdBUS (command BUS) to send and receive information between the BASIC Commander microcontroller and the peripheral modules. This allows for more detail information to be exchanged between components making it easier to control.

The Innovati system uses a plain text programming language called innoBASIC which is designed to be easy to learn to provide a rapid developing environment. InnoBASIC also includes commands to control Innovati's optional Peripheral Modules.
